Article I - Name and purpose
Section 1. The name of the organization is the Ohio Flyers Hang
Gliding Association (OFHGA).
Section 2. The primary purpose of OFHGA is to provide safe and
suitable sites for the members to fly their hang gliders.
Article II - Affiliation and insurance
Section 1. OFHGA is a chapter organization of the United States
Hang Gliding Association (USHGA).
Section 2. Insurance coverage for landowners of local flying
sites under the control of OFHGA is provided through chapter
affiliation with USHGA.
Section 3. USHGA insured Ohio sites are available only to those
who hold current full USHGA membership. All pilots must carry
their USHGA membership card. A list of non-USHGA members of the
OFHGA will be supplied by the club Secretary, twice a year, in
March and August to the designated site administrator. The club
Secretary will also send a friendly reminder at that time, to
the non-member informing them that their flying privileges at
insured sites are suspended until they become current again with
the USHGA.
Article III - Membership and dues
Section 1. Membership in OFHGA is voluntary and unrestricted
unless otherwise noted in this document.
Section 2. Membership dues shall be approved by a majority of
the membership.
Section 3. To participate in the benefits of OFHGA, namely use
of the flying sites, members shall have paid dues in the current
calendar year.
Article IV - Officers and meetings
Section 1. Members of OFHGA shall elect from the membership the
following officers to serve for the calendar year: President,
Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Section 2. The President shall preside over all meetings and
conduct such OFHGA business as approved by a majority of the
membership.
Section 3. The Vice President shall perform the duties of the
President if the President is unable to do so.
Section 4. The Secretary shall keep minutes of the meetings,
keep a record of all OFHGA policies and maintain a current list
of all members.
Section 5. The Treasurer shall receive all OFHGA money and make
such disbursements as approved by a majority of the
membership.
Section 6. There shall be three general business meetings each
year unless otherwise designated. A third of the membership must
be present to conduct the organization business.
Section 7. Members must receive at least one week’s notice of
location and time of the meeting from the officers.
Article V - Elections
Section 1. Officers shall be elected at the first meeting of
each calendar year.
Section 2. Candidates for office must be present at the meeting.
Section 3. Voting shall be by secret ballot.
Article VI - Expulsion and removal from office
Section 1. A member may be expelled or an officer removed from
office for cause, such as violation of rules of OFHGA or for
conduct prejudicial to the best interests of OFHGA. Such action
shall require the affirmative vote of one-half of the
membership. The effected member shall have an opportunity to
present a defense at the meeting.
Article VII - Amendments
Section 1. This constitution may be amended or abolished at a
meeting by the affirmative vote of one-half of the
membership.
Article VIII-Nonprofit organization
Section 1. OFHGA is organized and operated exclusively for
the purpose of maintaining safe and suitable hang gliding sites,
pleasure and recreation and other nonprofit purposes. No part of
its earnings shall incur to the financial benefit of any
member.
