Aero Tow point for Sport 2

Do any of you veteran Sport 2 pilots have a recommendation on where to setup the tow point for aerotowing?

Hi Dan. I personally like pulling from the front of the harness attached at shoulder strap base. If you are using the trigger type, start at the Apex and work forward on keel till you find the sweet spot for you. SP2's tow very well with little bar pressures as-is.

Lots of Sport 2 pilots are comfortable pro-towing, pulling from the harness only. If you like the security of the 3rd attach point on the glider's keel, it DOES make a difference! Tie a line around the point where the kingpost attaches to the keel, then run the line forward, making a loop around the keel right at the point where the double surface dacron won't allow you to go any further forward w/o unzipping. In fact, some guys like to unzip an inch or two to move the attach point a bit more forward.

Earlier this year I let my top tow point get looped around the wrong way so I was towing about 8" to 10" further back and it made a HUGE difference. It was very difficult to keep from PIOing. Once I realized where I went wrong and (with Johnny D.'s help) got the line fixed as I explain above, tows were a breeze, like a train on rails.

I've pro-towed with this glider before and it's not bad (a bit more bar pressure), but I prefer the 3 point method on rowdy days.

I appreciate everyones feedback. I was taught to aerotow with the 3rd attach point on the keel and wanted to make sure the location was in the ball park on the first few tows. John helped me setup the original attach point but we didn't have another Sport 2 to check it against.

I look forward to aerotowing the Sport 2 this coming weekend.

Yup on what they said. As far forward as the sail allows is a good starting point.
