Hi. My name is Dan Lukaszewicz and I am the new Region 9 director for USHPA. I'm a hang gliding pilot and fly out of the Capitol Hanggliding and Paragliding Club in DC.

I fly the mountains of western Virginia and southern Pennsylvania a couple of times a year. I also fly at Blue Sky, a flight park in Richmond VA, just about every nice weekend.

I've been flying 1-2 competitions in the sport class each year. I have a lot of fun but haven't been terribly competitive. Anybody else headed to the Wisconsin comp this summer?

I'm married with a 6 year old daughter and also enjoy sailing the Chesapeake Bay. It takes some time away from flying but there is nothing like time on the water to give a person perspective.

I'm an aerospace engineer by training but I haven't done that in the last 15 years. I work for a large firm that designs buildings, primarily for the US Government. It's a bit boring but it's steady work and usually I don't have to work on weekends.

Though I would take a second to say hello. I look forward to getting to know everyone.
